After a very early morning wake-up (3:30am), I am happy to be relaxing in the Delta Sky Lounge at Atlanta-Hartsfield Airport. The three-hour flight from Tucson was smooth and uneventful, other than the lady sitting in front of me who was quite miffed and very verbal about it, when someone who hadn't paid the extra fee was upgraded to the empty seat next to her in Economy Custom.
I have a nine-hour layover before my late-night flight to Santiago de Chile, and a one-time membership in the Sky Lounge at least allows me a more comfortable, secure, and quiet place to wait (and hopefully nap). The fee includes use of wifi so I can play on the computer or watch a film on my iPad.
I shall return with more commentary later . . .

Atlanta: 10 April 2013
At home in Tucson, AZ, since 2005, I live with my partner of over 47 years--and husband of six years--Will Feathers. I grew up in New York City (1947-67), earned my BA from CUNY in 1967 and my PhD in English from Indiana University/ Bloomington in 1974. I served on the full-time faculty of the English Department at Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, VA, from 1971 to 2004 (33 years), when I accepted an offer for early retirement. Last year (April 2022), we sold our house and moved into an Independent Living Senior Retirement Community in Tucson, where we have made many new friends.
