Day at Sea

After two busy days in San Francisco a day at sea makes a nice change and gives me a chance to get the blog closer to the present. Although LFLatSea is still on board the Koningsdam, LFL in person is at the San Diego Airport on Saturday, waiting to pick up a rental car for the 2.5-hour drive to LA. I have driven this route a couple of times in the past and it’s freeways all the way. So readers will have to read a few more blogs about the cruise before I reach the present.

After breakfast in the Lido Marketplace—pancakes, fruit, juice, coffee, and a blueberry muffin—I attend an interview session with the six dancers from the One Step Company, whose show I attended on an earlier night. Of course they are all young and attractive and seem to get along with each other really well.

For lunch I return to the Market for an excellent and very hot chicken
stir-fry. Unfortunately for my diet, today is “Cake Celebration Day,” something new for me, and probably another substitute for the midnight Dessert Buffet. As you can see in these photos the cakes are magnificent and the choices bewildering.
But I put self-control in over-drive and limit myself to one piece.

My Chosen Piece:  Before . . .

. . . and After

After lunch I hang around the Lido pool watching passengers work off their calories in deck games of skill and luck. I don’t stay for long since I decide to work off those calories by taking a long afternoon nap.

For dinner I have a large shrimp cocktail, another Caesar salad, and a large portion of herb-crusted salmon fillet.

Because I had that large piece of layer cake at lunch, tonight I decide to skip dessert. I do manage to keep awake for the 45-minute One Step Dance performance, a completely different program than the previous one.
