Getting Ready for 7 November Cruise
(and planning for March 2018)
We are counting down the days until our Mediterranean cruise on Oceania's ms Marina. I included a detailed itinerary in the previous posting (10 October 2017).
Right now we are in the throes of final preparation: making lists, doing laundry, deciding what to take (for a mixed bag of weather in November), and packing. After our housekeeper, Dolores, cleaned on this past Monday, we closed off one room dedicated to trip preparation: keeping the cats out so we don't transport any more cat hair than is absolutely unavoidable.
Earlier today our cat sitters--Cathy and John--were here to collect the keys and make final arrangements for taking care of Jake and Luke for the 17 days we will be gone. We are so grateful that they continue to give wonderful care to our little guys, even though they have given up all their other pet-sitting jobs. And Luke and Jake adore them as much as they love our cats. Besides tending to their food and giving them some playtime, Cathy and John collect our mail and water the few plants in the garden that are not on the irrigation system, which, by the way, is undergoing expensive repairs as I write this. The system was installed long before we purchased the property in 2005, so it's not surprising that it needs a little TLC.
One of the perks of our Penthouse Suite on the Marina is that we are provided with a laptop computer for our personal use (it's in the suite when we board), plus the optional use of an iPad, which Will can use since I will be bringing my own. The wifi is free and unlimited, a big plus for me, since it takes a lot of time to upload photos for the blog. An additional new perk is three loads of free laundry (which means we don't have to pack quite as much socks and underwear--hah!).
***One last note of change in plans: in the previous blog entry I posted that I have signed on for a Holland America Australia-New Zealand cruise in February 2018. I have since changed the date of the cruise to March 2018--giving me a little more down time between trips.***
My next blog posting will be sometime after we start travel on 5 November, unless something really important pops up before then.
Cheers to all.
